How does the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system regulate blood pressure and fluid balance in the body?

Answer 1

Paul Johnson

The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) regulates blood pressure and fluid balance by controlling the volume of fluids in the body and the constriction of blood vessels. Renin, released by the kidneys, converts angiotensinogen to angiotensin I, which is then converted to angiotensin II. Angiotensin II constricts blood vessels and stimulates aldosterone release, promoting sodium and water retention, thereby increasing blood pressure.
